The Henderson Lions Club has an active program for the collection of used eyeglasses as a portion of its focus on sight conservation and vision improvement. The used eyeglasses we collect are recycled and provided free of charge, to needy individuals, particularly in developing countries. Dr. Gregory Hagedorn, an optometrist and 2007-2008 Lions President, has made numerous trips to South america, India and other countries to provide free eye examinations and eyeglasses to the poor of those countries. The eyeglasses which have been donated have allowed hundreds to have proper vision for the first time in their lives.
The Henderson Lions ask everyone to donate their old eyeglasses for this worthwhile purpose. Anyone with eyeglasses to donate may deliver or mail them to Dr. Hagerdorn's office at 1413 Elm street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420, or contact any Henderson Lion who will gladly and gratefully accept them.
We assure you that those old eyeglasses which are cluttering your drawers and shelves will be put to good use and will enrich someone's life. Contact us to see how you can help. |
